Brooke has officially weighed down her options and decided where she wants to spend her next four years. But let’s just say… Larry and Bethany weren’t exactly expecting this specific news! 😱
The “Big Reveal” That Changed Everything
Brooke came into the room all smiles and excitement. She’s been doing her research, looking at the top programs, and she finally found “the one”. She’s talking about Business Administration, amazing sororities, and—of course—the best bands in the country.
But then came the location. Southern University in Louisiana.
If you could have seen Larry’s face! Southern is a legendary H.B.C.U., no doubt, but for a dad who thought his daughter might stay closer to home in Georgia (maybe Spelman?), hearing “Louisiana” was a total curveball.
8 Hours Away?! 🚗💨
The biggest shocker isn’t just the school—it’s the distance. Southern is about 8 hours away from home.
Larry’s first thought? “How are you getting back and forth?”. Brooke, being Brooke, already has it all figured out (in her head, at least!). She’s talking about driving back and forth, flying, and having cousins only an hour away from the campus to keep her safe.
But you know Larry… he’s not about to let his baby girl drive 8 hours alone on the highway! The negotiation for a car and plane tickets started almost immediately.

Here is the part that had us all dying laughing. When Bethany asked how she did her research, Brooke was 100% honest. She didn’t just look at brochures or academic rankings… she went to TikTok!
She saw the bands going crazy, the games looking “lit,” and the campus vibes on her feed and said, “Yeah, I got to go.” Larry couldn’t believe it. To be fair, she did check the Business Admin program too—it just happens that the TikTok videos were the “final straw.”

She’s seen her mom be her own boss and her dad run things in the military and in business, and she wants that same independence. She doesn’t want to work behind anyone else’s chair; she wants to run the building.
It’s hard to argue with a kid who has that much drive and ambition, even if it means she’s moving 8 hours away to chase it.
